Drug dealing is one of the world problems in social groups of young people
==========================================================================
Being an underage child in the world of rapid information sharing, I am aware
of the dangers and effects of drug abuse and drug trafficking. It's important
to detect and report children involved in drug selling chains. But just
prosecuting children is never enough. What must be taken into account when
prevention steps are being taken and what are some crucial prevention
techniques?
According to The Guardian, "teen drug-dealing convictions up two-thirds in five
years in England and Wales". Although the rise differs throughout the
countries of the world, steady increase of teens involved in drug dealing is
reported from police and investigation offices all over the world. This is
mostly due to children being naive and so-called "drug lords" took notice on
it, exploiting that for more profit.
Children with generally no other obligations are lured into illegal work
easier than adults. This is because they are easier to be manipulated and have
lots of free time, especially if their parents do not take care of them that
much or if they are being heavily spoiled. The income, not being taxed and
regulated, will present a huge influx of the lured kids' wealth, encouraging
them into committing more crime.
Apart from money and free time, children are sometimes exploited through the
use of blackmailing. Adult dealers present them with a horrifying situation
that is to be evaluated should the target not complete a task.
Just like young pupils sometimes start to smoke in a domino-like chain, because
their colleagues started to smoke, a bit older children might start selling
drugs for not falling out of the actions of their friends. That's a big
advantage for attackers as they will get more and more victims under their control, however, on the other side, public knowledge of the incidents amongst the population increases the chance towards someone reporting the illegal-doings
to the investigation offices.
"The only way to rid society of the trail of misery brought on by the illegal
drugs market is to implement a harm-reduction and evidence-based drugs
policy. The government's move to include drugs education in its
draft plans for relationships, health and sex education is a welcome step in
this direction."
